Penberthy Washdown Stations

The Penberthy line of washdown stations combine steam and cold water to provide hot water on demand. They’re widely-used in operations requiring an efficient, inexpensive, low-maintenance means of hot water clean-up . Typical applications include dairies, food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical and industrial plants. Penberthy washdown stations offer the widest operating range available. WD2000L is ideal for those plants where hot water clean-up is needed, but where only low steam pressures are available. It operates off steam pressure as low as 10 PSIG, such as waste steam. Where higher steam pressures are available, WD2000 can be used. It operates with steam pressures anywhere from 35 PSIG to as high as 150 PSIG. Finally, WD2000H can be used in those plants with steam pressures as high as 200 PSIG.

The Penberthy Model WD2000 is also available in a detergent version. The 20000 makes it easy to siphon liquid detergents to the hot water stream. Penberthy washdown stations require minimal maintenance. They’re designed to reduce to practically zero the carbonate buildup that plagues competitive units. A check valve is in the right place to prevent cold water from depositing carbonates around the steam valve-so it won’t seize up.

In all, Penberthy washdown stations offer the following features/ benefits:

  • Live steam is automatically blocked from flow through the system through a unique diaphragm device. The diaphragm exerts pressure to keep the steam valve closed. Only sufficient water flow (5-6 GPM) can cause the steam valve to open, allowing steam and water to mix. Loss of this flow causes the valve to close immediately, blocking steam flow to the nozzle.
  • Easily-maintained-no carbonate buildup.
  • Manually-operated valves for steam and water supply lines. Internal steam and water line check valves to prevent back flow. Discharge liqu id temperature gage.
  • Integral steam injection heating element for even heating.
  • Simple wall mounting design and “mount-compat ibility” for easy installation.
  • Stainless steel hose rack for convenient hose storage.
  • Water hose with swivel at each end and trigger-actuated spray gun or lance.
  • No special tool kits required.
